The Opening | State of the Work
FOHNIKK is a living system, and this note records plainly what is established and what remains in development.
The foundation of the system is established. Its premise, its structural elements — the Core Code, the Field, and the Return Principle — and its position among musical practices are defined and documented in the system's foundational paper. The initial formulation of the practice has been developed at the piano, where the Fields are drawn from the natural divisions of the keyboard, progressing from the most delimited environment to the fully open one.
The theoretical ground of the system is set out in that paper, which situates the practice within an established body of scholarship on perception, embodied musical action, and the role of the stable tonal centre across musical cultures. The paper itself is subject to continuing revision as the system develops, and its current form should be read as a foundation rather than a conclusion.
In development is the system's full academic and pedagogical programme: a structured manual treating the practice in depth, including its graduated levels of engagement, its notational models, and its application across the families of instruments beyond the keyboard — strings, winds, brass, percussion, and ensemble practice. Worked examples and documented realisations of the practice are part of this programme.
No claim is made here beyond what the work presently supports. The system's methods are stated; their wider application is being built deliberately, and this site will record that development as it becomes established.
